Malaysia Debris Boom Project

This project demonstrates our capability to deliver customized hydroelectric debris interception solutions for clients in Southeast Asia. If you need a tailored debris boom or other river/marine solution for your project, we can provide end-to-end engineering support to match your unique requirements.

Project Overview

This custom project delivers a tailored debris interception boom solution for Baleh Hydroelectric Power Plant in Malaysia. The local Batang Baleh River faces serious floating debris issues: large tree logs and small garbage are frequently washed into the river due to frequent landslides and local illegal logging activities. As the remote mountainous area has limited transportation conditions, the intercepted logs and debris need to be collected and cleared by on-site burning, which requires a highly efficient, durable debris boom system to perfectly match the on-site operation requirements.

Project Core Objective

The core goal of this project is to implement reliable water garbage and debris interception for the hydroelectric power plant, protecting the power generation facilities from debris damage, and supporting the client’s local on-site debris clearing work.

Tailored Product Configuration

To perfectly fit the client’s on-site river environment and debris clearing requirements, we customized the debris boom system with the following core configurations:

  • Ø400mm HDPE debris boom floats, optimized for river debris interception
  • Ø1000mm heavy-duty mooring buoy to secure the entire boom system in river currents

Key Challenges & Our Customized Solutions

During the customization process, we addressed the client’s specific requirements and concerns with targeted, practical engineering solutions:

Challenge 01: Confirming the right product dimension for local debris

The client needed a debris boom that can effectively intercept both large tree logs and small floating garbage, but was not sure about the right float size that fits their specific on-site debris scenario.

Our Solution: Based on the type and size of the local floating debris, we confirmed the 400mm float size for the debris boom, which perfectly balances interception efficiency and stability against the river current, ensuring it can fully meet the client's debris clearing needs.

Challenge 02: Client's concern about complex installation process

The client worried that the debris boom system would be too complex for their local team to install and deploy on site.

Our Solution: To eliminate the client's concerns, we fully assembled a complete set of sample products before delivery, and presented it to the client for approval. This allowed the client to clearly understand the product structure and installation process in advance, while also confirming the product quality before mass production.
