Project Overview

This custom project delivers a tailored smart coastal water quality monitoring buoy solution for clients in Rayong Province, Thailand. The client needed a reliable monitoring solution for their shallow coastal water area, which requires an intelligent buoy system with cellular data transmission, GPS positioning and warning light, to support long-term unattended water quality monitoring.

Project Core Objective

The core goal of this project is to implement a stable, long-term shallow water quality monitoring system for the client’s coastal area. The intelligent buoy can collect real-time water quality data, transmit the data via cellular network, and provide real-time positioning, helping the client master the coastal water quality status accurately, and supporting their environmental governance work.

Tailored Product Configuration

To perfectly fit the client’s shallow water monitoring requirement, we customized the monitoring buoy system with the following core configurations:

  • 1200mm HDPE coastal water quality monitoring buoy, optimized for shallow water use
  • High-efficiency solar power supply system, to support long-term unattended offshore operation
  • Solar-powered indicator light, to provide clear warning signal for passing vessels
  • Extended SS316 stainless steel sensor cage, corrosion-resistant for long-term seawater use

Key Challenges & Our Customized Solutions

During the customization process, we addressed the client’s specific shallow water monitoring and functional requirements with targeted solutions:

Challenge 01: Shallow water monitoring depth requirement

The client's monitoring area was extremely shallow, the water depth was below 1 meter, which meant the standard sensor cage could not fit the scenario, as it could not place the sensor to the right monitoring depth without touching the seabed.

Our Solution: We customized an extended SS316 stainless steel sensor cage for the client, which perfectly adjusted the position of the sensors, ensuring they can be placed to the right monitoring depth in the shallow water, without the buoy or cage touching the seabed, perfectly solving the shallow water monitoring problem.

Challenge 02: Special function requirement of the solar light

The client needed the solar-powered warning light to integrate GPS positioning and cellular network transmission functions, which required special customized light products.

Our Solution: To meet the client's special functional requirement, we helped the client source the right product, and replaced two solar lamp suppliers until we found the one that can fully meet the client's GPS and cellular transmission requirement, ensuring the product can work as the client expected.
