Project Overview
This custom project delivers a tailored floating dock solution for a private client in Potomac, Maryland, USA. The client owned a 26.5-foot Cobalt 262 powerboat, which weighs 5,500 pounds. The client needed a dedicated floating mooring platform for his personal powerboat, to prevent the hull from rusting caused by long-term immersion in water, and to provide a safe, stable mooring space for his vessel.
Project Core Objective
The core goal of this project is to deliver a customized U-shaped floating dock system for the client’s personal powerboat. The floating dock can provide a stable mooring platform for the client’s 5,500-pound vessel, preventing the hull from long-term water immersion and rusting, effectively extending the service life of the boat. Meanwhile, we also provided targeted mooring assistance solutions, to help the client dock the vessel more conveniently and efficiently.
Tailored Product Configuration
To perfectly fit the client’s personal powerboat mooring requirement, we customized the entire floating dock system with the following core configurations:
- Custom U-shaped floating dock, optimized for personal powerboat mooring
- Conventional floating dock pontoons, to build the main body of the mooring platform
- Manual marine winch, to help the vessel with mooring operation
- Custom winch base, to secure the winch on the dock
- Pull rope device, to assist the vessel docking process
Key Challenges & Our Customized Solutions
During the project consultation, we addressed the client’s load-bearing and docking concerns with professional, practical solutions:
Challenge 01: Load-bearing capacity requirement for the heavy vessel
The client's Cobalt 262 powerboat weighs 5,500 pounds, the client was worried that the standard floating dock could not provide enough load-bearing capacity, fearing that the dock would sink under the weight of the vessel.
Our Solution:We conducted precise calculation based on the exact weight of the client's vessel, and determined the suitable size of the floating dock. We configured enough floating pontoons to ensure the dock can fully bear the weight of the 5,500-pound vessel, without any sinking or instability, perfectly meeting the client's load-bearing requirement.
Challenge 02: Docking assistance requirement for the vessel
The client asked whether we can add wheels to assist the vessel to reach the floating platform, to make the docking process easier.
Our Solution: We provided a targeted solution for the client: the central U-shaped floating dock itself has the function of assisting vessels to dock at the floating platform, it can perfectly guide the vessel into the mooring position. Meanwhile, we also equipped the client with the manual winch and pull rope device, which enables the client to pull the vessel to the platform more easily and quickly, without the need for additional wheels, perfectly solving the client's docking concern.
