This custom project delivers a tailored small monitoring buoy solution for clients in the UK. The client needed to procure a dedicated small monitoring buoy for local universities, to support the students’ water environment experimental research work. This compact monitoring buoy can perfectly meet the university’s experimental requirements, providing a reliable, customizable platform for the students’ research and testing activities.
Project Core Objective
The core goal of this project is to deliver a customized small monitoring buoy for the university’s student research project. The buoy can provide a stable, compact platform for the students’ water environment testing experiment, helping the university to complete their research work smoothly. Meanwhile, we also provided a cost-effective solution to fit the client’s limited budget, and supported the client’s post-production modification requirement to meet their changing needs.
Tailored Product Configuration
To perfectly fit the university’s experimental research requirement, we customized the small monitoring buoy with the following core configurations:
- 700*320mm custom floating ring, as the main body of the compact monitoring buoy
- Custom steel frame, to support the buoy’s structure and the additional tool platform
- Waterproof equipment box, to protect the monitoring instruments from water damage
- Small-sized solar panel, to provide stable power supply for the monitoring equipment
- Custom instrument well, to hold the water quality monitoring sensors for the experiment

During the project implementation, we addressed the client’s modification and budget concerns with flexible, practical solutions:
Challenge 01: Post-production modification requirement for the steel frame
After the initial production of the buoy was completed, the client put forward a new modification requirement: they needed to add a dedicated tool platform on the side of the buoy, which required adjusting the existing steel frame design.
Our Solution: Even though the buoy production was already finished, we still provided flexible modification support for the client. We conducted precise drilling on the existing buoy body, and completed the repainting work after the modification, ensuring the modified buoy can still maintain good corrosion resistance and appearance, perfectly meeting the client's new requirement.
Challenge 02: Limited budget for the small monitoring buoy
The client needed a small-sized monitoring buoy for the university's research project, but they had a very limited budget for this experimental project, which made it hard to choose the standard products.
Our Solution: We provided a targeted cost-effective solution for the client: we recommended using the floating ring as the main body of the buoy, to build the customized small monitoring buoy. This solution can perfectly meet the client's requirement for small size, while effectively controlling the production cost, fully fitting the client's limited budget for the university research project.
